ᜉᜒᜎᜒᜉᜒᜈᜓ The Pilipino cap
Featuring modern Baybayin CalligraFilipino of “PILIPINO”, divided into three segments, comprising of three words that symbolize our people:
The left side: ᜉᜒᜎᜒ PILI / Natatangi (Select)
The front: ᜎᜒᜉᜒ LIPI / Angkan (Tribe)
The right side: ᜉᜒᜈᜓ PINO / Nilinang (Refined)
The underbrim design represents our colorful culture and festivities through an Islamic – Hindu style design – some of our ancestral precolonial influences. I know, ironic, because “Philippines” is a colonial name, and we should definitely lobby for a replacement. By dissecting Pilipino into PILI — LIPI — PINO, we reframe the colonial mindset and give our our own meaning: ANG ANGKAN NG MGA NATATANGI AT NILINANG.
